Teacher’s Wishes: Simple Love Can Not Change Everything ， Do What a Class Supervisor Should Do

Teachers are the bridge to guide students to the sea of knowledge, and a class supervisor is a bridge of communication between schools, parents and students. As a young teacher in charge of a class, all matters related to students in the work should be managed. Sometimes I might feel tired, tearful, or even kind of annoyed...but surely there is great joy of seeing children grow up. I always think about how to manage the class, how to motivate the students, how to effectively communicate with the parents and how to improve the relationship between teachers and students and so on. Facing lots of problems, I deeply feel that although sometimes it is for the sake of children, a teacher's enthusiasm often fails to deal with problems properly. At this point, I was very eager to learn something and get some guidance.

When I received this invitation one month ago, I was very excited to buy all the books of the experts in advance to read <Don’t Be A Blind Busy Class Supervisor Any More>, <Home-School Communication, No Pain You Won't Understand - Domestic Famous Class Supervisor Mei Hongjian's Experience>. During the process of reading, my past experience has been constantly updated. It is expected to come to Suzhou to participate in the National Class Supervisors Development and Replicable Development Strategy Summit, hoping to improve myself through learning and bring more benefits to school and students.

Next, I would like to share the learning experience according to the lecture sequence of the four famous teachers invited.

The first one was <My Creative Class and the Creative Culture> from Yu Fen, a teacher of the Experimental Primary School in Fenghua District, Ningbo, Zhejiang Province. Teacher Yu first expressed the success of her class quoted the words of Teacher Mei: "Do what the class supervisor should do". A qualified class supervisor should be warm and happy who can make a deep soul communication with students and provide a place full of positive energy to stimulate children's progress. Teacher Yu has made her teaching and class supervisor work as a lifelong career, creating a culture of her own class and making the class into a brand. All the teachers presented were deeply impressed.

Teacher Yu has created a class of honors in the way of taking class names together, establishing class motto, class songs and class emblem, setting up unified school uniforms, setting up class rules and common ideals. While introducing the concept of her class, she also shared several successful activities in the actual teaching process. The idea that class can not be “alive” without activities renewed the concept of every class supervisor. The cooperative and competitive thinking of the "Group Cooperative Competition Management Model Based on Token Economy" activated each class member; the "Book Fair" activity allows students to complete effective reading among groups within the prescribed time; the daily "Seven One-minute" system allows students to develop good habits and so on. The innovative home-school communication model -- "Heart to Heart Communication" also impressed all the teachers.

The second one was teacher Wen’s sharing of "Three Steps to the Beginning of the Semester--Turn the School Open Day a Disaster Movie into a Youth Inspirational Film". Teacher Wen's insight into the depth of the students' problem surprised us. He reanalyzed the problem from the student's points of view when we were trying to set up strict rules to manage the students. He expounded experience of managing class which got a very good effect from the aspects of ‘Why students do this, how can I help them? activity design & implementation and subsequent habits consolidation’, etc. Students achieve the goal of "happy learning, happy school life and happy growth" through an interesting way. Change is not transient, it needs to be repeated at many levels and multiple directions and to be consolidated on time until it becomes a habit, not just a benign change in form. Teacher Wen’s idea of ‘Sense of Ceremony’ is worth learning. Why do the students have no enthusiasm on school activities? The compulsory participation of the school provokes the rebellion of the students. We might as well to think from the beginning of the activity, to sublimate the meaning of participating. On the other hand, it is important for students at this stage to learn ‘Time Management’. The full and effective use of daily time at school and the "Reflection Course of the Weekend Moral Education" together with the sincere home-school communication makes his class brilliant. Teacher Wen's time management course may as well be used for reference.

The third one was teacher Hu's lecture ‘Make the Happy Education Simply’. The title is simple but education is not easy at all. Teacher Hu particularly makes use of the ‘opportunity’ to educate the students. It’s not just boring words, he hides his own teaching guidance in the truth, inspires the students and stimulates their interests, so as to achieve the effect of education.

The fourth and the last one was teacher Cheng who came from No. 1 Middle School in Xia District of Wuhan -- <Success Is Not the Secret -- You Can Copy My Class>. There must be lots of hard work and sweat behind each success, and this is especially true for teacher Cheng. He treats his class and every student with great care. For example, the handover ceremony on Sunday, singing class song before the class standing committee meeting, oral and written praise, etc., these are certainly not going on smoothly at the very beginning. But it is very inspiring that he constantly groping for innovation in his work. He not only brings the students to the university, but also teaches them how to deal with problems and how to innovate.

Through this training, I realized that I should keep updating myself to be a better class supervisor, and I have learned a lot of management strategies from other teachers. The work of a class supervisor is not only based on simple love, but also needs perseverance. Never give up. Make effort, persistence and innovation to be a habit. Make your dreams bigger than your fears, and make your actions stronger than words.
